ATTENTION! In recent years, many doctors in Italy, the United Kingdom, the Russian Federation, Ukraine, India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, China, the Gulf region, and other countries worldwide—without specific training and without adequate experience—state that they perform PLDD. However, in some cases inappropriate lasers and incorrect parameters are used, meaning this is not “PLDD according to Prof. Choy’s method.” This may put patients’ health at risk and may also damage the credibility of the technique.
In September 2007, Prof. Daniel Choy officially appointed Dr. Gian Paolo Tassi as Director of the European Partners of the Laser Spine Center in New York (the center closed in 2011 when Prof. Choy retired). Dr. Gian Paolo Tassi was the first to introduce PLDD in Italy (second in Europe) in December 2002. From December 2002 to the present day, he has performed over 4,500 PLDD procedures, building one of the largest clinical experiences worldwide, after Prof. Daniel S. J. Choy (8,200 cases) and Dr. Johannes Hellinger (11,000 cases), both now retired.
